Ron Gummerson Summer Track Meet
Ron Gummerson taught and coached at Conant High School for 29 years. He was always inspiring students, athletes, and those who were lucky enough to have known him, to not settle for anything less than their best. He was often known for his sayings, "What I accept, I am" and "Gold medals don't come in Cheerios boxes". He lost his battle with cancer on May 12, 2011, but his legacy will never be forgotten.
To remember Ron, and his love of track and field, his family and friends organize an annual Summer Track Meet in his honor. The all-ages track meet raises money for a scholarship that is awarded to two high school senior track athletes.
